Description of Sandwich Façade System
Sandwich Façades are constructed using three basic components: exterior sheet, insulation and interior sheet, which are mounted on site and attached to the building’s structure. The components’ functions are as follows:
- The lower ribbed sheet represents the facing’s initial skin and is installed and attached directly on the main structure beams. The type of sheet chosen must comply with the project's mechanical and resistance requirements.
- The auxiliary profile, which is installed over the sandwich’s first skin, has a dual function:
This profile is composed of omega-shaped pieces. A minimum thickness of 0.80 mm is recommended, unless a greater gauge is necessary in order to comply with the resistance requirements.
- The insulation is the material installed between the facing's two skins to avoid condensation. Rolls of rock wool are used most frequently.
- The exterior ribbed sheet is the facing’s second skin and is attached to the auxiliary profile. The type of sheet chosen must comply with the project's mechanical and resistance requirements
