Ventilated façades are characterized by their ability to allow air circulation, thus enabling them to function as a thermal barrier. This construction solution allows for greater comfort and energy savings of 30% (approx.) compared to conventional facades.

The functioning of a ventilated façade responds to one of the façade’s inherent mechanisms: its relationship with the exterior atmosphere. Ventilated façades become operational when the exterior surface begins to exchange energy with the air chamber. Once the temperature of the air in the chamber increases, the following process is started:

• The solar radiation arriving from the exterior acts on the façade’s covering and increases its temperature.
• Ingeniería y Construcción del Perfil S.A.’s different metallic façade systems transmit this heat to the air chamber by means of radiation.  
• The chamber’s air is heated, its volume increases and it rises throughout the chamber by means of convection. This process generates excess pressure in the upper part of the chamber, which leads to the expulsion of the hot air.  
• In the same way, a depression is generated in the lower part of the chamber and colder air is sucked in from the exterior.  
• This mode of operation is maintained whilst the exterior skin exchanges energy with the air inside the chamber.
